I believe that there is always something to do, no matter where you are. Akron isn't an exception.

The following is a list of every restaurant and tourist trap in the mid-sized Rubber City.

1. Abandoned Trains and Silos

There's an abandoned Thomas the Tank Engine recreation situated next to a cluster of grain silos that were once transformed into student housing for the nearby college. The silos have since been quarantined and the whole space has a Chernobyl vibe going on.

2. Northside Speakeasy

A "hidden" speakeasy that is, for some reason, attached to a Marriott hotel. The otherwise bland lobby is home to an old school british payphone that leads to the bar. It's on the smaller side but the drinks are good and if you're staying at the hotel, it's easy to drink.

3. Jilly's Music Room

Probably your best bet for any live entertainment. I caught an energetic rock band and enjoyed some drinks from the local brewery. A lot of the entertainment value in this city is dependent on bars and brewerys. This is odd considering the next entry.

4. The Founding Location of Alcoholics Anonymous

I made a larger post on this, but the museum is open everyday from 12-3PM and offers an interesting look into the life of Dr. Bob and his front for a religous cult.

5. Swenson's

This is a VERY local burger chain and it was in the running for best food of the trip. The Galley Boy's were my go-to. The serving sizes are a bit on the small side so I recommend getting two burgers and skipping out on the fries (they're mid).

6. Luigi's

Bad Pizza. Bad Service. Overpriced. Overhyped. Skip.

7. World's Largest Airdock

Built by Goodyear in the 1920s, the airdock has since been passed around from owner to ower whilst remaining the most threatening building in the country. The size is impressive without a doubt, but it's not open to the public and people rarely enter or leave.

8. Cilantro

Easily the best food spot in town. Cilantro put me onto a new favorite dish, Pineapple Fried Rice. Check it out for at least one night if you're craving Thai food.

9. Goodyear National Headquarters

These guys basically own the city. It's weirdly empty and not too impressive. They do have a massive roundabout painted like a tire and on rare occasions, the goodyear blimp will make an appearance.
